Jill Hawkins
This is my love at first sight story.
February 1986
I was 20. I was sitting in my oldest sister's kitchen in California. I had just arrived with my older brother to spend two days with my family, (my parents, other sister and the first grandbaby had arrived two days before) and then go to "the coast" for the wedding of my closest brother's wedding. The 'guys', led by my ever exuberant brother-in-law, were getting ready for the bachelor party. But they were waiting for someone. Some guy who was renting a room from them. (I had heard about him. Didn't want to live at Mom and Dad's, had some stuff to work out etc.) My sister with the baby said David was so good with her.
This guy burst through the front door, "Sorry, I'm late! The alarm at the store wouldn't set! Oh. New family is here! Guys, give me two minutes.…" I looked up from the photo album of my niece's latest drool and he was looking at me... After what seemed like a very long, long time but was just seconds he was off to grab his gift and they guys were gone.
The next day, I talked to this guy, David, and he asked me to the movie. On February 13, we went to see 'Down and out and Beverly Hills' and he kissed me before the first line. We stayed up all night soaking in each other.
I left on Valentine's Day for my brother's wedding (that was rained out!!!). On February 15th David followed us to the coast and asked me to marry him as we walked on a storm ravaged beach
We were married in May, 1987. We have three beuatiful children who have a fairy tale to tell their grandchildren.
Thanks for letting me tell our story.
P.S. My 14 year old made me send this in!
