The traditional Buddhist ceremony honors the dead from My Lai, held once every ten years. This year the Vietnamese government allowed monks from around the province to hold a much more elaborate ceremony and to invite the public. This ceremony took place the day before the official My Lai annual ceremony .

Vietnam Veteran Mike Boehm. He’s been working in My Lai since 1995 and has played his violin there every year for the past decade.

The traditional formal gown and cap was given to Mike by the local villagers to wear for the first time this year.


Groundbreaking for a new school.


The 20 foot tall statue in the center of My Lai Peace Memorial recently rebuilt in 2004 .
The statue is in the center of what used to be My Lai village, now known as Tinhkhe.
