SEGMENT 1:
Andrew Sullivan and Brian
Mann appeared together at the Wisconsin Book Festival in
a discussion moderated by Steve Paulson on the topic of the new conservatives
in America. Sullivan is a noted conservative political analyst. His
blog is "The Daily Dish" and his most recent book is called
"The Conservative Soul: How We Lost It, How to Get It Back."
Mann covers rural America for public radio and is the author of "Welcome
to the Homeland."
SEGMENT 2:
Harmon Leon is a gonzo journalist
and avowed leftie who specializes in what he calls "infiltrating"
right-wing America. His two books are "Republican Like Me"
and "The Infiltrator." He tells Anne Strainchamps about some
of his adventures with white supremacists and Christian wrestlers. Also,
John J. Miller is a national political reporter for the National
Review. He grew up on rock and roll and decided to compile a list of
the 50 best conservative rock songs. He tells Jim Fleming it wasn't
even hard, and why. And of course, we hear some of the songs.
SEGMENT 3:
Barack Obama is the new darling
of the Democratic Party and is considering a Presidential run in 2008.
Steve Paulson caught up with the junior senator from Illinois in Milwaukee.
They talk about Obama's sudden popularity, and his approach to politics.
Obama is the author of "The Audacity of Hope."
