Journalist Scott LaFee tells Jim Fleming about some of the "smart" clothes currently being developed: garments that clean and repair themselves, emit pheromones, and contain connections for cell phones and other electronic gadgets. LaFee wrote a piece called "Geek Chic" for the New Scientist magazine. Also, Sara Gay Forden is the author of "The House of Gucci" - a chronicle of the family that founded the fashion house that became a global empire. Forden tells Steve Paulson about some of the signature Gucci items, and recounts the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci by his flamboyant wife, currently serving time for the murder in a Milan jail.SEGMENT 2:
Actress Angela Ianonne performs in the one woman play "Full Gallop," based on the life of Diana Vreeland. Fashion editor at Harper's Bazaar for over 25 years, Vreeland then became editor in chief of Vogue. Ianonne tells Anne Strainchamps that Vreeland adored beauty in any form, always wanted to do things first, and makes a lively role model for other women. Ianonne also performs a scene from the play.SEGMENT 3:
David Brooks, contributing editor for Newsweek an author of "Bobos in Paradise," offers a commentary on men's fashion. Also, Lynne Luciano tells Jim Fleming that men are under tremendous pressure to pay more attention to their appearance. She says they feel they have to look lean, fit and young; and wonders what the baby-boomers will do as they inevitably age.
