Badgers Drop Third Straight Rose Bowl

By

The Wisconsin Badgers have lost their third straight Rose Bowl game, bowing to Stanford yesterday by a score of 20-14.Stanford scored the first two touchdowns in the game, then withstood a Wisconsin comeback. Athletic Director Barry Alvarez coached the Badgers, following the departure of Brett Bielema to Arkansas, and Alvarez couldn’t repeat the success he had leading the Badgers to three Rose Bowl wins about 15 years ago. Alvarez downplayed the UW now having lost three in a row in Pasadena, “Every season stands on its own merit, but it’s a different team.”

Star running back Montee Ball concedes losing three Rose Bowls is not what he wanted during his UW career.

Now it is incoming coach Gary Andersen’s chance to run the Badger football team. Alvarez says he thinks Andersen can get off to a good start, “You know as I told the team, we have a good nucleus, and can be an outstanding squad again next year.”

And, perhaps some year soon, Andersen can be the coach to break the Rose Bowl losing streak.
