A year after a strange hologram of Tupac Shakur was manifested onstage at the Coachella festival, it appears hip-hop performers continue to embrace the technology as a way to resurrect their departed comrades. Holographic representations of Eazy-E, of N.W.A., and Ol’ Dirty Bastard, of Wu-Tang Clan, both “performed” at two West Coast stops of Rock the Bells, a touring hip-hop music festival, this past weekend. The Eazy-E hologram was used during Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s set while the ODB one was appeared during his former group’s show. Billboard magazine and Pitchfork have links to YouTube clips of the appearances. (Read the report and another report here.)

My Bloody Valentine has expanded its brief North American jaunt to add dates in Chicago and St. Paul, Minn., in November. The band, who became underground-rock sensations in the early ’90s after releasing 1991’s “Loveless” and then disappearing, are touring to support their first proper reunion record. Billboard magazine is reporting that Peter Hook, formerly of Joy Division and New Order, is suggesting legal options might be pursued after negotiations have reached a stalemate to obtain a cache of old Joy Division and New Order recordings. Is this the new Flight of the Conchords? Twin Cities prankster Har Mar Superstar said he’s working on a new TV show with Josh Tillman, who now performs under the Father John Misty moniker and used to drum in the Fleet Foxes.
