Arctic System Turns Upper Midwest Into Deep Freeze

By

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for the entire state of Wisconsin tonight into tomorrow morning.

An arctic high pressure system is building tonight in the upper Midwest, with wind chills of 20-30 below zero and possibly colder in Northern Wisconsin.

Sarah Marquardt is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sullivan. “On the back side of the system that moved through yesterday, we have a strong northwest wind that will be ushering in much colder air. As far as temperatures across Wisconsin tonight, we’re looking at 10 to 17 [degrees] below zero across the northern part of the state and the negative single digits across the southern portion of the state.”

The National Weather Service says wind chill values this cold could result in frostbite in as little as half an hour. If you have to venture outside, the NWS says to dress appropriately.
