POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Milwaukee Regional Manager
Position Summary: This position serves as the Manager of the Milwaukee Regional Office for Wisconsin Public Radio. This individual will be responsible for local fundraising activities, community relations and promotions. Directs the activities of promotions/events staff and serves as a liaison with WPR administrative and fundraising staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, initiates and pursues community relations activities that effectively position and promote Wisconsin Public Radio programming and services to the community, within the Wisconsin Public Radio marketing plan and in cooperation with the WPR Marketing Director
- Serves as WPR liaison to the University, ECB, WPRA regional committee and members and other institutional and community entities. Serves as community liaison for WPR.
- Manages the local Milwaukee facility, including facility upgrades and moves. Advocates for and ensures the function of the technical operation – including quality of transmission, production and studio equipment.
- Develops and manages regional budget(s) and ensures compliance with FCC Public File and CPB certification requirements.
- Secures corporate support by developing proposals and maintaining contacts with the business community in the region; maintains client records and trends in accordance with WPR development standards
- Secures major gifts by preparing for and carrying out cultivation and stewardship donor visits; works thoughtfully with donors to explore giving opportunities that benefit the donor and WPR
- Responds to corporate and major donors with appropriate materials and timely personal follow-up
Minimum qualifications:
- Five or more years successful experience with media or non-profit organizations as a high-level, visible contributor
- A track record of fundraising success by meeting annual financial goals in a non-profit setting, including successful solicitation of corporate and major gifts
- Clear, compelling and persuasive communicator, orally and in writing
Desirable qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication arts, marketing, arts administration or related field
- Knowledge of broadcasting, especially public broadcasting
- Experience in public relations, marketing or promotions
- Supervisory and managerial experience
- Ability to lead in a collaborative fashion
- Familiarity with southeast Wisconsin corporate and philanthropic community
Salary: Starting pay is $55,000-$63,000 plus generous fringe benefit package.
