COMPLETE POSITION DESCRIPTION

Working Title: Board Operator/Announcer-LTE
Unit: Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR),

Appointment: Limited Term Employee
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Availability: Immediate/Open until filled


POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a weekday evening announcer for On Point, which airs from 6:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. on the Ideas Network of Wisconsin Public Radio. Serve as on-air announcer, broadcasting live breaks including weather, forward promotion, and underwriting spots. Prepare automation voice tracks for evening and weekend programming. Produce and e-mail Ideas Network program notes and voice mail.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Present live inserts during Ideas Network programming. Prepare information for on-air presentation including weather, forward promotion and scheduled underwriting announcements.
  • Monitor Ideas Network programming for audio quality and ensure correct operation of program elements.
  • Monitor various sources to watch for severe weather and broadcast warnings on-air as needed.
  • Prepare automation voice tracks for evening and/or weekend programming.
  • Produce and e-mail Ideas Network program notes and voice mail.
  • Participate in promotional appearances and on-air fund raisers.
  • Serve as board operator and announcer for NPR news and election specials as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful candidate should have on-air and board operation experience. This position is based in Madison on the UW campus.

Approximate Weekday Evening Hours:
5:45 p.m. until 8:15 p.m., Monday-Friday

COMPENSATION: $10 per hour
