POSITION SUMMARY
Wisconsin Public Radio is the second-largest public radio network in the country. The goal of this position is to execute WPR’s marketing plan in southeastern Wisconsin while overseeing certain statewide marketing initiatives. The Promotions and Marketing Coordinator will plan and execute promotion campaigns and community relations activities to increase awareness of Wisconsin Public Radio in Southeastern Wisconsin. This position reports to Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Manager and consults with Wisconsin Public Radio Marketing Director.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop, initiate and pursue community relations activities and partnerships that effectively position and promote Wisconsin Public Radio programming and services to southeastern Wisconsin.
  2. Manage statewide outreach initiatives of particular interest to the Milwaukee market, such as WPR Classical.
  3. Nurture the relationship and foster further collaboration with other public radio stations in southeastern Wisconsin. Help position Wisconsin Public Radio in a clear and concise way in a market with three other public radio stations.
  4. Assist in planning, execution and evaluation of Wisconsin Public Radio remote broadcasts.
  5. Collaborate with regional managers, marketing director, programming and development staff.
  6. Manage, train and oversee the southeastern Wisconsin volunteer corps and internship program.
  7. Supervise the development and maintenance of the regional web pages.
  8. Work with Regional Manager on trades of goods or services to benefit the regional office and promotion and marketing efforts.
  9. Recognizes multiculturalism and diversity as organizational assets.
  10. Demonstrate respect for others in all workplace relationships and interactions.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborate with a range of internal and external partners to execute high-quality outreach initiatives.
  • Execute and manage statewide marketing plans.
  • Communicate clearly, accurately and effectively with excellent written, verbal and oral communication skills; write and edit quickly and effectively.
  • Work well under pressure and consistently complete work by agreed upon deadlines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 2 or more years of relevant job-related experience.
  2. Experience in marketing or related field
  3. Proven ability to manage all aspects of large-scale projects.
  4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate productively with external organizations and the ability to work in partnership with internal departments.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Professional record of writing clearly, engagingly and persuasively for a variety of audiences.
  7. Experience working with diverse and multicultural communities.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous public radio experience.
  • An understanding the Milwaukee / southeastern Wisconsin media market and public broadcasting’s role within that market.
SALARY: The range for this position is $15, 427 – 23,139 at 50% appointment. The Full time equivalent is $30,853 – 46,278. Actual pay will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. WPR offers a comprehensive benefits package.
