The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra soars
this summer with an exciting broadcast season featuring
masterworks, new compositions, and exceptional guest artists.
The concerts are
broadcast Sundays at noon on the NPR News & Classical Music
Network. They can also be accessed via our Web site’s
audio-streaming service.
Now in his sixth year
as music director, Andreas Delfs is taking the Milwaukee
Symphony Orchestra in new directions. The orchestra will
present the U.S. premiere of Zimmerman’s “I turned
and saw all the injustices that are committed under the
sun” and performances of several pieces new to the
symphony including Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater, Stanislaw
Skrowaczewski’s Concerto for Orchestra, Walton’s
Belshazzar’s Feast, and James MacMillan’s The
World’s Ransoming.
Delfs is also
mixing in some of the great favorites of the classical
repertoire: an all- Brahms concert and ample amounts of Bach,
Beethoven, and Bruckner.
The concerts for the 2003 Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra broadcast season were recorded in Uihlein
Hall of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.
