SEGMENT 1:

Shane Harris is the author of "The Watchers: The Rise of America's Surveillance State" and is the intelligence and homeland security correspondent for the National Journal. He tells Steve Paulson that our government is collecting masses of data on ordinary people in its efforts to catch terrorists. Also, Cory Doctorow is a writer and digital activist who works to defend electronic freedom. His new book for adults is "Makers," but he talks to Anne Strainchamps about his recent hit for young adults, "Little Brother." It's a tale of techno-geek rebellion and Doctorow tells Anne why kids should know how to take their hardware apart to re-purpose it.

SEGMENT 2:

Marilyn Johnson is the author of "This Book Is Overdue! How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save Us All." She talks with Jim Fleming about how librarians are emerging as heroes of the digital age because of their love for the written word, free speech and open access.

SEGMENT 3:

Robert Laughlin is a Nobel Prize winning physicist and the author of "The Crime of Reason and the Closing of the Scientific Mind." Laughlin tells Steve Paulson that the internet is full of information, but it may not be anything you want. Increasingly, the really useful stuff is classified or privatized.
