625 Car Accidents Happened During Winter Storm, Says DOT

Despite Uptick In Accidents, No Fatalities Were Reported

Harsh winter weather led to a spike in the number of car accidents across the state Monday.

Around noon, there had been more than 150 crashes. By the end of the day, that number had risen to 625.

Gina Paige with the state Department of Transportation said most of the accidents were in the metropolitan areas in southeast Wisconsin.

“There were a lot of slide-offs and jackknifed semis,” she said. “That’s when the semi turns, so the trailer is going the opposite way of the cab.”

There were no fatalities reported in any of the accidents.
