  • 2014 Wisconsin Political Preview Part 1

The Wisconsin legislature is scheduled to go back to work next week. We preview the three month session by talking to a local member of the state Assembly and a UW-La Crosse political scientist. In this segment, they talk about potential changes to how taxes are structured in Wisconsin, the pros and cons of eliminating the state’s income tax and potentially raising the sales tax. There’s also a discussion about BadgerCare, the economy and jobs and the state’s infrastructure.

A budget adjustment year means a shortened session for state lawmakers who go back to work next week. There’s a chance that this session will set the stage for fall elections for Wisconsin governor, Assembly and Senate races. We talk with a UW-La Crosse political science professor and a Democratic member of the assembly about the issues of frac sand mining and medical marijuana, and set the stage for fall’s elections.
